Book Now For Christmas

It’s that time of year again; the sun comes out, the BBQ is lit, people are filling up festival fields – so therefore it must be time to book your Christmas party in Bristol. Because what else is summer for.

It may surprise you to hear – but booking Christmas parties in the early half of the year is becoming more and more of a thing. Trust us, we know. And while it may seem utterly absurd to be thinking about the NEXT Christmas party what seems like just weeks after enduring the last festive season, it is actually quite smart. Many venues across Bristol and of course across the country book up well before the dreaded first carol rears its ugly repetitive head.

So what do you do? Luckily for you, we are very experienced in the Christmas party festivities and can usually always offer you and your crew the perfect setting. In case you’re new to this whole Christmas party ‘thing’ there are a few things you need to consider when choosing what to do and where. Are you planning for a small group of friends and family, or is this your office Christmas party? Do you want a sit down meal, or would you prefer something more casual? What kind of music do you want played, some of those timeless carols we all love and can sing along to once the third course and second bottle of wine has gone down – or would you and the gang prefer your own music?

These are all things to take into consideration before choosing your venue. Then comes the food, the thing they all came for, the reason why you got so many RSVPs – so it’s important to choose a nice looking menu. We don’t want to brag, but our Christmas menu looks particularly appetising this year. There are plenty of traditional favourites, dotted with a few tasty alternatives depending on your dietary preferences. It’s all so mouth-watering, so be sure to check it out to get your taste buds tingling and your Christmas spirit rising.

So while you may be sat there at your office desk reading this and thinking, ‘Have they actually gone mad? Christmas? It’s June!’ just take our word for it – this is definitely something you will need to think about sooner rather than later if you want to seriously impress your work colleagues with a one of a kind Christmas bash! The best dates, prices and venues all get snatched up before any of us can say, ‘Please – no more Mariah Carey, I can’t bare it’. So come on get into the Christmas spirit and start planning your Bristol Christmas party.

How to plan an eco-friendly wedding

It’s 2019 and sustainability is probably one of the most important topics of the decade. With so much to consider many people are left wondering, ‘But how can I make any difference?’ Well we’re here to help you see how easy it can be and going eco-friendly doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice quality, there’s so many ways to be more sustainable, even when it comes to your wedding day. Here’s our list of the different ways you can become a sustainability warrior… dressed in white.

The Confetti

Confetti. You either love it or you hate it. Either way, you can’t deny it does make for a VERY cool photograph. If you are a confetti fan then perhaps choosing a biodegradable option is something you can think about. You can purchase some handmade confetti or if you’re feeling a little more adventurous try collecting leaves and flowers from the ground outside and cut them into cool shapes, this could be especially stunning for an autumn wedding.

The Wedding Favours

The wedding favour – now this can be a bit of a nightmare to sort out. So much to think about, what’s the cost, what’s something that everyone will be able to use/enjoy, not too big or too small, something that’ll last, but not something that will damage the planet. ARGH! Well here’s a clever idea – plant seeds. It’s sustainable, inclusive of all ages and there are so many fun options to choose from!

The Wedding Gifts

Much like the wedding favour, the gifts you receive on your wedding day can be great or just plain impractical. However; if you’re really feeling the sustainability vibes why not check out some green charities in the local area and ask your guests to make a small donation in your honour? It helps the planet but also means you don’t need to spend your honeymoon trying to find space for that 5th serving platter, and buckets of silverware!

The Venue

Your wedding venue is probably on the top of your list of things that MUST be perfect. There are so many variables to think of, but if you’re going for a more sustainable wedding day be sure to do your research and choose a venue that endeavours to be just that – sustainable. Good criteria to follow would be, how do they source their food, what’s their recycling and waste management like and what kind of environmentally friendly alternatives do they offer, things like paper straws and reusable napkins are a good start!

The Wedding Dress

There’s nothing shabby about something pre-loved. You just need to look in the right place. Check out charity shops for accessories and shoes and even encourage your guests to shop there for their outfits. Wedding dresses may be slightly more difficult to obtain from a charity shop so maybe try online retailers like Ebay or Gumtree for something pre-loved. But if pre-loved just isn’t your thing, no problem – you can always try shopping with sustainable designers instead and get something made just for you, without the carbon footprint.

The Invites

Why not use this as a chance to get a little creative? Gather your bride tribe, order in some take out and a few bottles of wine and get gluing! The sky is your limit here, buy some cool recycled paper, dried flowers, some colourful pens and see where the vibe takes you.

The Entrance

Limo’s and vintage cars have all been done before. If you’re looking to make a real first impression on your guests then try arriving in a slightly less conventional way. Hire a coach and deck it out, or even arrive by pushbike. It’s not as scary as it sounds, and it’s sure to leave your guests wanting more!

So there you have it, your very own guide to becoming a sustainable bride (and groom) to be. Choose a few or choose the lot, it’s up to you. And if you need any more wedding day inspo, be sure to get in touch with us at No.4 Clifton Village and let us help you plan your big day – the eco-friendly way! Our 2019 Wedding Fair is coming up this April 28th don’t miss it!
